How to build your Copilot muscle 💪
Here's how to build your Copilot muscle
Everything is going to be different.
Everything is already changing.
The longer I think about it, the clearer it becomes to me:
When it comes to change, what people fear is not the change itself.
It’s not the technology they resist trying.
What people resist is the loss. 💔

People resist losing the old and proven ways of working.
It’s natural and okay to feel that way.
That’s how change becomes highly emotional and personal.
Embracing Change 🤗
Personally, when I started to explore Generative AI back in April 2023, I felt very excited.
I was convinced from the beginning that this technology could boost my productivity.

So, I started to learn as much as I could about it, like a sponge soaking up water.
Back in those days, I took the Microsoft AI fundamentals exam to learn the basics of how Gen AI works, which options are available within the Microsoft ecosystem, and how AI could help my customers using Microsoft 365.
In November 2023, the AI tools space exploded, so I started to use some awesome conversational buddies like:
🔥 Copilot on Edge (formerly Bing Chat)
🔥 Mindjourney
🔥 ChatGPT
🔥 Gemini (formerly Bart)
🔥 Grammarly
🔥 Magic Studio and HeyGen by Canva

Last year, as I started my self-employment journey, my fear was feeling lonely.
At that time, I was not aware of the awesome people I was about to meet.
On the other hand, thanks to generative AI, I have found a conversational AI buddy, who feels like a
colleague but is blazingly fast and possesses vastly more knowledge than any person.
And the process of getting to know each other has been rewarding and fun.

Today, one year later, I can say my AI buddies supercharge my skills.
With AI by my side, I can create in minutes what would have taken hours, and create in hours what otherwise would have taken days.
Learning About AI 🎓
To learn about AI, the first step is to start using it.
Hands-on learning.
Copilot on Edge or copilot.microsoft.com is the easiest way to start the conversation and gain a new AI buddy.
Here are the features I like the most about Copilot:
💓 My data is protected all the way during my conversations.
💓 Read aloud and use the microphone, so I can dictate my prompts.
💓 I can communicate in Spanish, German, and English with Copilot. I can mix languages within my prompts.
I literally devour every piece of good content related to AI, whether it comes in the form of movies, podcasts, or books like ‘Klara and the Sun’ by Kazuo Ishiguro.

Staying curious day in and day out about AI is important to building the Copilot muscle.
Acquiring the AI Habit 💡
I once heard that people have to stay consistent for 21 days to build a new habit.
I started to acquire the habit of taking cold showers and the AI habit at the same time.
Nowadays, I use Copilot every day for different use cases, so I am in good shape with the AI habit.
Let’s talk about cold showers another time. 😂
Today, I can say the initial effort to acquire the AI habit has paid off.
1️⃣ Try to use Copilot every day. At the beginning, I had to remind myself to use Copilot and all other AI tools.
2️⃣ Ask yourself with every task: Can I do this with Copilot?
3️⃣ Then start considering your daily flow. I noticed that I write a lot on a daily basis. Whether it’s emails,
drafting documents, or summarizing content on the internet or internal content, Copilot helps me streamline my writing process.
Stay consistent about using Copilot every day.
Adjust tasks and prompts as you go.
